About the Author, Mi Ae Lipe

Mi Ae Lipe, Author of Bounty from the Box
Born in South Korea, Mi Ae Lipe grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she first became interested in food and gardening.

A self-taught illustrator, she lived and worked in Wisconsin and Minnesota for over a decade, during which time she met Jack Hedin, owner of Featherstone Farm, one of largest community-supported agriculture (CSA) farms in southeastern Minnesota.

After doing a logo project for the farm, she became one of its subscribers, and the idea for a cookbook that could help people figure out what to do with their CSA produce was born.

She self-published Tastes from Valley to Bluff: The Featherstone Farm Cookbook in 2007, which included 300 recipes and featured Featherstone exclusively. The book met with great regional success and acclaim, and was even used by the personal chef to the governor of Minnesota.

Several years later, she decided to expand the original cookbook to include nearly 40 new fruits and vegetables, as well as to showcase remarkable CSA farms throughout the United States. This second book, Bounty from the Box: The CSA Farm Cookbook, was self-published in the fall of 2015.

Mi Ae now resides near Seattle, home of the world-famous Pike Place Market. She regularly indulges in a favorite hobby—eating great food. A freelance editor and graphic designer, she has her own business, What Now Design, in which she helps authors and companies create books, marketing publications, and branding identity campaigns. She also lives another life as a traffic safety advocator, writing a blog called Driving in the Real World, dedicated to improving driver education and road safety in America.
