Bucking Horse

Bucking Horse

Bucking Horse is designed around fulfilling the hunger for community. Visitors and homeowners will be able to discover a community of opportunities nestled in a safe environment. Local vendors will have the chance to share their products and create relationships with those visiting the village, while community gardens and gathering places will encourage homeowners not only to interact but to bond with their neighbors.

A trail system, community gardens, and a working farm as well as a garden for the farm-to-fork restaurant are all part of the proposed master plan to protect our land. A variety of homes will be offered within the community including single-family and townhome residences.

The theme of the project is based upon the existing 129-year-old Johnson Farm and Jessup Farm buildings, which will be rehabilitated in an effort to protect the history and enhance the overall ambiance of the project. Bucking Horse is designed around maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The entire project is designed around trail systems that encourage outdoor exercise. Healthful retailers within the Jessup Farm Artisan Village, including a proposed fitness center, a farm-to-fork restaurant, and fresh local produce—along with a clean and safe environment—will promote quality of life and health.

The community gardens and farm-to-fork restaurant will teach today’s kids how a seed in the ground becomes the food on their plate. Not only will the project allow us to teach society where its food comes from, the children of today will learn how nature can provide endless opportunities for fun and learning. Whether it’s building a treehouse, learning about care of the farm animals, or growing vegetables, the project will reflect how plants, animals, and people can live and coexist.

Agritopia®

Agritopia®

Agritopia® community is something of a modern-day village set within the urban fabric of the Phoenix, Arizona metro area. The name says it all: Agritopia® is about preserving urban agriculture and integrating it into the most neighborly, well-designed community possible. It is a principle-driven development that puts people and relationships ahead of money and trendiness. We believe that a simple life with friends and family is a rich life. The design of the community is intended to break down the traditional barriers between people to encourage formation of real community among people of varied backgrounds.

The community comprises 450 residential lots along with commercial, agricultural, and open-space tracts. Agritopia is gridded with tree-lined streets and pathways to make the entire project accessible to pedestrians. The major connector street within the community is Agritopia Loop, which arcs its way from Ray Road north and east to Higley Road. The farm office is on Ray Road, one-quarter mile west of Higley Road in the Agro-commercial area.

Shambala Permaculture Farm & Bakery

Shambala Permaculture Farm is as much a movement as it is a physical place on Camano Island, Washington. As certified permaculture design consultants, we can help you implement permanent food in your yard—we offer consultations and installations.

We provide the highest-quality permacultural solutions with our interesting selection of useful plants, organic produce, and gluten-free baked goods. We are forging community bonds by opening up dialogue about our environmental and local needs.

We are open daily by advance appointment for grocery and bakery packages, our Food Forest Garden and Farm Animal tours, and wholesale organic edible perennial plants. We are also available to host weddings and other special events.

Shambala Bakery is an evolution of our farm-to-fork journey at Shambala Permaculture Farm on Camano Island. Providing the community nutritional produce and organic edible plants in our nursery farm stand, we introduced our gluten-free, non-GMO, ancient-grain breads in 2013 to an enthusiastic reception. It was evident we could best serve nutritional needs both locally and regionally by providing our unique product dedicated to accommodating folks seeking allergen- and GMO-free breads.

We bring the farm full circle in our new Bistro, offering locally sourced, organic produce in our vegetarian menu.

Waltham Fields Community Farm

Waltham Fields Community Farm

Waltham Fields Community Farm is the business name of Community Farms Outreach, a 501c3 organization. We encourage healthy relationships between people, their food supply, and the land from which it grows.

We are focused on supporting local hunger relief and food access efforts by providing fresh produce donations to emergency food programs in the greater Boston area; operating a special farmer’s market for low-income households called the Waltham Fields Outreach Market; engaging in farm-to-school distributions with the Waltham public schools; and offering subsidized and half-price CSA shares. We aim to provide 20% of our harvests of our fresh, organically grown vegetables to our food access efforts.

We also seek to reconnect people with the knowledge of how food is produced. Children and adults learn about farming and food production, farm-to-table recipe preparation, natural sciences, and environmental stewardship when they come to WFCF to work in the fields and greenhouses and participate in our programming. Guided by experienced staff, field volunteers help sow seeds, transplant seedlings, weed and harvest crops. Educational programs include Children’s Learning Garden Programs, adult workshop offerings, public events, special service learning opportunities, and our farmer training program for people who have had some previous experience on farms or in the sustainable agriculture field and are serious about pursuing farming as a career.

Our CSA share program started in 1997 and continues to be our main revenue-supporting program that supplies over 500 households with fresh, organically grown vegetables throughout the growing season, and half that amount through a winter share program with several distributions in November and December. All pickups take place at the farm and include opportunities to get out into the fields to do some pick-your-own, engage with the land, experience food production first-hand, and enjoy some of the precious open space in this highly populated region. Our CSA offers summer shares, winter shares, and flower shares. All of our crops are grown adhering to strict organic production methods.
